CBDT Extends Deadline For Vivad Se Vishwas Direct Tax Scheme

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), under the Ministry of Finance, announced on December 30, 2024, an extension for the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme, 2024. The extension revises the due date for determining the amount payable under column (3) of the table outlined in Section 90 of the Scheme. The revised deadline is now set for January 31, 2025.

The scheme allows taxpayers to resolve outstanding tax liabilities by paying the disputed amount along with a designated percentage.

Under the extended scheme, penalty charges vary based on the payment date.

For new appellants, the payable amount for disputed tax is 100% of the disputed amount if paid by January 31, 2025, rising to 110% for payments made on or after February 1, 2025.
