The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), through Instruction No. 04/2025-GST dated May 2, 2025, has introduced a structured Grievance Redressal Mechanism aimed at addressing difficulties faced by taxpayers during the GST registration process.
The instruction comes in response to increasing concerns from stakeholders about delays in processing GST registration applications and the absence of clear escalation channels. As per the CBIC directive, Grievance Redressal Committees (GRCs) are to be formed at the zonal level to address and resolve issues pertaining to registration applications that remain pending beyond the stipulated timelines.
The primary objective of this system is to ensure a quicker and more equitable resolution of grievances concerning GST registration applications.
Reference is made to Instruction No. 03/2025 dated April 17, 2025, issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) concerning the processing of GST registration applications. Applicants whose Application Reference Number (ARN) falls under Central jurisdiction and who face grievances—such as queries raised in violation of the said instruction or issues regarding grounds for rejection—may approach the jurisdictional Zonal Principal Chief Commissioner or Chief Commissioner for redressal.
