CBIC Launches Second All-India Drive to Tackle GST Fake Registrations: New Guidelines Released

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has announced new guidelines for its second All-India Special Drive aimed at tackling fake Goods and Services Tax (GST) registrations. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to curb GST evasion and enhance compliance within the tax system.

"The second Special All-India Drive may be launched by all Central and State Tax administrations from 16th August 2024 to 15th October 2024 to detect suspicious/ fake GSTINs and to conduct requisite verification and further remedial action to weed out these fake billers from the GST eco-system and to safeguard Government revenue," the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said in an instruction.

The drive will involve coordination between various tax authorities and enforcement agencies to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach. The CBIC has emphasized the importance of inter-departmental collaboration to identify and address fraudulent registrations.
