The Central Ministry of Power has notified the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020 on 31st December, 2020.
The above rules state the duties of every distribution licensee to supply electricity. Also, it is the right of consumer to have minimum standards of service for supply of electricity from the distribution licensee in accordance with the provisions made in these rules.
There are also provisions for setting up a Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum and enhanced customer service like toll free call centre for better customer service.
