Centre Notifies Appointment Of Five Advocates As Additional Judges Of Bombay High Court

The Ministry of Law and Justice has announced the appointment of five advocates as additional judges of the Bombay High Court for a term of two years.

These appointments come after a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium on September 24. The Collegium's resolution noted that the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court had originally proposed the elevation of these five lawyers on January 19, 2024.

The five advocates are:

  • Nivedita Prakash Mehta;
  • Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar;
  • Ashwin Damodar Bhobe;
  • Rohit Wasudeo Joshi; and
  • Advait Mahendra Sethna.
  • The Bombay High Court is currently operating with 64 judges, while its sanctioned strength is 94.
