The Union Health Ministry has issued a notification providing new guidelines for phased reopening. It further extended the nationwide lockdown in containment zones till June 30.
While the religious places of worship, hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls will be allowed from June 8.
Schools, colleges, coaching and educational institutions are to reopen but only after consultations with states and Union territories. “Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July, 2020,” the order said.
International air travel, operation of Metro trains, cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums will remain shut.
The night curfew has been changed to 9 pm to 5 am instead of 7 pm to 7 am. There will be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods.
States and Union Territories are free to impose restrictions on certain activities even outside of containment zone if the same is considered necessary.
